The body is 60 percent water.

It is important to stay hydrated. Some experts believe you can estimate the amount of water you need by taking your weight in pounds and dividing that number in half. That give you the number of ounces you may want to drink each day. For example, if you weigh 160 pounds, you might want to drink at least 80 ounces of water or other fluids per day. If you exercise, increase this by 8 ounces.

It is a good idea to keep extra water in storage in case of an emergency. Ready.gov recommends 128 ounces of water per person per day for three days (or 384 ounces per person). It is also a good idea to keep some in the trunk of your auto.

About 70 percent of Earth's surface is covered with water. Only one percent of this water is fresh we can use. 97 percent is saltwater. Two percent is water frozen in ice caps and glaciers.

Earth's fresh water supply is limited and threatened by pollution

Bottled water often has reduced amounts metal contaminants such as copper and lead, than tap water.
